Harry Patch

I was born in 1948, so missed the war completely. My mum and dad went through it a bit, though they never talked about it much.

As a 'baby boomer', I can only offer my heartfelt thanks to Harry, and all the other heroes who gave their lives in those terrible wars. Without them I would not be living in the country or freedom that I do today. Their hard won freedom for us is precious, and we should never forget that. War is an abomination against humanity, who are made in God's image. Harry and the others went on our behalf, selflessly giving their all that we might live.

Farewell Harry, and God bless you mate.

Colin.

The Uncomfortable Definition of an Infidel

I received this recently and really felt the need to pass it on. See what you make of it.

Allah or the Lord Jesus Christ? The Muslim religion is by far the fastest growing religion in the UK.

Last month I attended my annual training session that's required for maintaining my prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who explained each of their beliefs. I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say. The Imam gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video.

After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers. When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Imam and asked: 'Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world and, that by killing an infidel, (which is a command to all Muslims) they are assured of a place in heaven.

If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?' There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, 'Non-believers!'

I responded, 'So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can have a place in heaven. Is that correct?'

The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of 'a little boy who had just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.' He sheepishly replied, 'Yes.'

I then stated, 'Well, I have a real problem trying to imagine Pope Benedict commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr. Stanley ordering all Protestants to do the same in order to guarantee them a place in heaven!'

The Imam was speechless! I continued, 'I also have a problem with being your 'friend' when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me! Let me ask you a question. Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to kill me in order for you to go to heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven and He wants you to be there with me?'

You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam remained speechless. Needless to say, the organizers and promoters of the 'Diversification' training seminar were not happy with this way of dealing with the Islamic Imam and exposing the truth about the Muslims' beliefs.

Within twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the UK. to elect a government of their choice, complete with sharia law. I think everyone in the U.K. should be required to read this, but with the Liberal justice system, liberal media and the political correctness madness, there is no way this will be widely publicised.

Mob Rule

I have just been reading an extract from the book,"Even Greater." It is the account of what happened when Reinhard Bonnke tried to hold a Gospel crusade in Kano, Nigeria in 1991. Islam, it seems, has no answer to the Gospel other than violence, and this episode is the epitome of that failing.

It seems that after a sermon in a Mosque, a mob took to the streets looting, killing and burning. Churches, businesses, you name it, they attacked pretty much everything in site. Reports speak of dead bodies everywhere. It beggars belief in these so called modern times.

So, what was the outcome? Well, on the surface Reinhard and his team had to leave the country. It looked as though Islam had won. But those who know Jesus know that He is never defeated. And true to form, just short of ten years later, 1.6 million gathered to hear the Gospel, of which 1.4 million made a decision for Jesus. Over a six day period, more than 3.4 million accepted Jesus.

Mob rule? I think not. Mobs destroy, kill and maim. They are one of Satan's favourite weapons, read the book of Acts! No, Jesus rules and brings life, peace and freedom to those who will accept Him.

Red Envelope Day

The numbers, 9-11, will forever stay in our memories. It's the date of the atrocity committed when the twin towers were brought down by terrorists. I can remember vividly watching on TV as the second plane hit. It made me sick to my stomach. I don't know the exact numbers, but it was at least 5000 people that died that day, not all Americans. Tragic.

America went to war over it, invaded another country, full of righteous indignation..."How dare they kill Americans..." Strange is't it, terrorists kill 5000 and it's war, yet Americans kill way more Americans than that every week, but that's, "A women's right to chose." Vehemently defended in the courts, news papers and media. "How dare they say we don't have the right..." To what? To kill Americans!

There's a new guy in the White House, so far he's uped the money to support the killing of Americans, and done his best to set the terrorists free. The Bible says, "By their fruit you shall know them." Watch this space.

girlsThis is a picture of my two daughters, taken a long time ago when they were very young. What a pair of sweethearts they were, and still are...A benefit to society.

Today is red evelope day. The good people of America, and the UK are sending empty red envelopes to the President and Prime Minister. Each envelope represents an aborted baby. I personally hope and pray that it sticks in there throats.

A Memory Shared 2

Colin Owen aged 14This is me at around 14 playing a Framus semi acoustic (boy I wish I had it now!) bass. The shot was taken in Matt's shed. He was our singer at the time and decked his shed out to look like the Cavern...Well, he thought it did. If you look closely you'll see I'm playing it with a drum stick.

Note too, mum's knitted pullover. Mum was big on knitting, so pullovers came thick and fast...Especially thick!

I started playing (giging) when I was 13, playing guitar in the local workingmens club. I remember, we had 2 Selmer 'little giants' amplifiers. Maybe 3 watts through a 5 inch speaker. And yep, they told us to turn down!

Love and blessing,
Colin.

A Memory Shared.

This is a photo of my 2 daughters, taken a long time ago now. Ah, memories are made of this.Michelle and Claire Wright On the left is Claire my blonde beauty. Looks a lot like her mother in law here, well I can see it!

Michelle is on the right, missing a front tooth by the looks of it. She'll be 34 this year (09). O how I wish I could get to see them again. Much prayer has gone into that...Trust me.

Anyway, I thought I'd share a memory and a hope.

Hope you enjoyed it.

Love and blessings,

Colin.

The Train Now Arriving at Platform 61.

Well, has it been a year already? Seems like only yesterday that I was arriving at platform 60, how time flies. What a year it has been, some ups and a few downs, but in all cases, God proved His faithfulness beyond any doubt. Sometimes we have to be down to see how God is unbending in His Love and care for us. What a wonderful Saviour we serve.

God’s provision has been amazing this year. Several times I was starting to sweat over late bills, but, as if by miracle, the money came in just in time. He does that with me, makes me wait, not every time, but when my faith seems weak seems to be His favourite. Still, we always come out stronger when He does that, so bless Him for ever.

Sixty was a good year in the main. I’ve learned a lot, mainly through losing battles, but that’s a great way to learn. The only way to never lose a battle is to never get into one...At least I’ve got half of it right!

So, what will 61 bring? More ways to outreach I hope. Doing the radio work I do is a great way to, ‘go into all the world.’ As is web siting. I’ve built 3 sites for clients this year and hope to build many more.

I’d very much like to get back into writing songs and stories. Seem to have gotten out of that mode in the past year. My Jacko stories have been aired on Eternal Radio this year. Cheers Stephen and Vellma, you are God’s own.

Thanks to my new pastor, I’m preaching more now, playing bass in church too which is wonderful. What a blessing to have a pastor who lets you off the leash and not be threatened by it. Pastors take note, the church’s purpose is to build up the saints for works of service. Mine is doing just that...I’m blessed.

So, here’s to another year with the Lord and my brothers and sisters here on earth.

God bless you, whoever you may be, and remember, Jesus loves you passionately.

Colin.
