In Humane

Interesting term don't you think. Seems to imply that that there is a humane for this to be the opposite of. I guess we regard humane as being kind, tender, caring, even loving. But we ll know that the human race is far better at war, killing, hurting and maiming.

Inhumane we see as...Well, the opposite of the above. People  are tried for war crimes where others have been slaughtered. But the side doing the judging are themselves guilty of just as many atrocities and massacres.

The simple truth is, be it humane or inhumane, it is committed by humans. Therefore, all acts are human, both good and bad. If we take an honest look at humanity, we see far more inhumanity than humanity. We are a wondrous and complicated people. Capable of such beauty, and such horror.

Let us strive for the beauty.

Whatever happened to comedy?

I may have mentioned before in these pages that I don't watch TV. It's great, you should try it. I do listen to the radio on occasion though, mainly in the car, but also in bed before lights out.

Radio 4 puts out a lot of so called comedy in the late evening. I use the word comedy very lightly, as, to be honest, the stuff never makes me laugh (or even smile!)

Now you might think I'm some old stick in the mud with no sense of humour, but you'd be wrong. I'm a Liverpudlian by birth, and we are know for our sharp dry wit and our ability to really laugh. It's just that so called modern and usually alternative comedy just isn't funny. A lot of the time they have to resort to smut, which is always the sign of a talentless comic. Let me elaborate...

When I was a lad I played in a group (didn't have bands in those days). Every so often we would be booked to play at Jacobs Social club. Jacobs being the biscuit makers, a big employer in Liverpool at that time. They could afford to get some big name acts, (not us of course!). I saw Bert Weedon play there once, and boy, he could play. Still can by all accounts at almost 90. Way to go Bert!

Well, this one time we were there and Ken Dodd was on. He used to play Jacobs to try out his new material for Panto season. I remember, he had stuff written all over his hands as reminders. Any way, he went on and we were in stitches for an hour. I can clearly remember having real trouble breathing through laughing so much. Tears streamed down everyone's faces and it was difficult to stay in your chair and not slide out... I kid you not, he was the funniest man I have ever seen, and not one word or thought was smutty. A man with real comedic talent who could make you laugh till your sides hurt.

So, what went wrong? Where have all the comedians gone? Where are the Ted Rays, the Arthur Askeys...All Liverpudlians by the way. We have Jimmy Tarbuck, another scouser. He's a funny man. But there are precious few around.

Seems to me that the BBC, in trying to be 'modern' have lost the plot. Their comedy sucks, their afternoon plays can be disgusting, their stance on religion a joke, their politics biased.

I'm really glad they don't get any of God's money from me.

Common sense prevails this time, but the vigilantes are here...

Read this quote...

"Charges have been dropped against a street preacher who was arrested for saying homosexuality is a sin. After reviewing the evidence, crown prosecutors decided last week to discontinue the prosecution of Dale Mcalpine, as reported by the Christian Institute."

http://www.theway.co.uk/feature.php?id=8114&this=Case_against_%27homosexuality_is_sin%27_preacher_dropped

If you read all of this article it becomes clear that this is a case of entrapment. This preacher was approached by 'a passer by' and asked a question to which he rightly responded that homosexuality is a sin. He was then approached by a gay community support officer who took him to the police station where he was detained in a cell for seven hours and charged with causing "harassment, alarm or distress."

Clearly this was a bogus charge. Answering a persons question can never be called harassment. Shouting it from the rooftops maybe, but not in this case.

What I want to know is, just who and what are gay community support officers and who gave them authority to act as policemen. This is very disturbing. Before long they'll be waring black uniforms with swastika like emblems on their arms and carrying army officer type sticks to keep us all in check.

This is the start of vigilantism. The start of public displays of hatred towards Christians. You will NEVER read of them approaching Islamic preachers, or going into Mosques to entrap moslems. This is Christian specific hatred. Christophobia is here!

The end times are upon us. Watch for the coming of the Lord.

Colin.
